Rare, Magical Rainbow Moonstone! Expertly cabbed into a round cabochon. The moonstone is characterized by an enchanting play of light. This gem has a Blue Sheen that appears as it is tilted, then different rainbow colors as the gem is moved. Indeed it owes its name to that mysterious shimmer which always looks different when the stone is moved and is known in the trade as "adularescence." White spots in the picture are from the lights, these gems are very hard to capture their true beauty with a camera. Gem is much nicer than picture the shows.

This Moonstone was mined in India.

Moonstone is another of the starred or lighted gemstones, with a changing reflection coming from within. In the East this indicated a stone of good luck; a potent spirit of good dwelling within. In India the moonstone was considered a very sacred stone and would not be displayed for sale unless it was on a yellow cloth. The color yellow being the most sacred of colors in India.

Mystics the world over used the Moonstone for meditation believing that the movement of the inner light would bring good focus for meditation.
