The Mercy Pearl. I myself looked at this Pearl and it took my breath away, it is that beautiful. Chi Huynh, of Galatea (Jewelry by Artist) introduced carved black Pearls, revealing their nucleus (center.) Chi astounded himself when carving a Tahitian Pearl, went to deep and exposed the white center. Chi actually carves the black nacre from the Pearl with beautiful designs showing off the beauty from within the Pearl. Chi thinking he just ruined the Tahitian Pearl was amazed by the newfound beauty of his carving. He thought why not put real colored gemstone bead nucleus into a Pinctada Margaritifera (black Lipped) oyster to create a colored gemstone within an exotic Black Tahitian Pearl. Chi then took his new idea to the French Polynesia Islands. He approached the Tahitian Farmers there who said this idea would not work. Chi did not give up, he then went to Vietnam to tell the Pearl farmers there of his idea. Convincing the farmers there to nucleate the Black Lipped oysters with the colored bead nuclei. Chi reaped his first harvest after 3 years of hard work and determination. His result was the exotic AAA quality Black Tahitian (now Vietnamese) Black Pearls. Chi has made Pearl history with his beautiful “Mercy Pearl.” Tahitian pearls are found in the turquoise-colored lagoons of French Polynesia in the South Seas where the black lipped oyster (Pinctada Margaritivera) is found. This is the only oyster that produces this exquisite Pearl!
