When Ron put this gemstone under my nose, (he likes to surprise me with his latest faceting creation) all I could say is OMG! The flashing fire and different colors in this Opal are amazing! Ron faceted this Coober Pedy Opal into a design called "Flat Top" I had purchased a parcel of this Coober Pedy Opal rough straight from Australia a few years back. Ron found it in the safe and I am glad he did! A pale moonlight orange body color with intense internal colors, green flashes, red flashes and blue flashes! The colors just roll with this magnificent Opal. An exceptional work of Nature. Kaleidoscope of colors! This gem has been custom faceted by Ron and has been cut to perfection. For the true gemstone connoisseur!

Here is a rare find, custom faceted Coober Pedy Opal!

The color of a rainbow, the glow of the Northern lights and internal fire can all be captured within an Opal. Opal is the world’s most phenomenal gem. Opal is nature’s kaleidoscope of colors and has been regarded as the luckiest and most magical of all gemstones. Opal symbolizes love, life, hope and truth.

Coober Pedy is an Opal mining town located in the harsh Outback of South Australia. An estimated 70% of the world's precious opal being mined is from the opal fields of Coober Pedy, Australia.

What makes up the phenomena and moving colors in Opal? Tiny spheres smaller than 1500 angstroms for blue and violet colors, but no larger than 3500 angstroms to produce oranges and reds, are what make up the different colors you see in Opal. To put that in perspective, 20,000 spheres are about the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

Opal is prized for its unique play of color, it can disperse light into flashes of rainbow color.
